A seasonal home maintenance checklist

Spring: check the roof and gutters, service the AC, test smoke and CO alarms, inspect for water stains.

Summer: clean the dryer vent, check the fridge coils, look for leaks under sinks, trim plants away from the AC unit.

Fall: clean gutters, service the furnace and replace its filter, drain outdoor hoses, check weatherstripping.

Winter: test the sump pump, check for drafts, replace HVAC filters, know where your main water shutoff is.
