Where to find the model number on GE, Whirlpool and Frigidaire appliances

The sticker moves around between appliance types and even between models. These are the places each maker lists. If yours is not there, check the other spots or the maker's own page.

GE. GE says: "Your model number will ALWAYS begin and end with a letter." Examples from GE's locator pages:

  • Dryer: "Inside front face of the dryer compartment, on the left or right side (door open)." (GE dryers)
  • Dishwasher: left front inside edge, right front inside edge, or right side edge of the door. (GE dishwashers)
  • Top-freezer refrigerator: inside the fresh food section on the left wall near the top, inside the freezer on the ceiling near the front, near the temperature controls, behind the crisper drawers, or the bottom front edge. (GE top-freezer refrigerators)

Frigidaire. Frigidaire lists these spots (Where can I find my model and serial number?):

  • Top freezer refrigerator: "along the upper left side wall of the fresh food compartment", visible with the door open.
  • Range: along the interior side trim of the oven, on the left-side panel, or on the front frame of the storage drawer panel.
  • Dishwasher: along the interior side of the door or the right side of the tub.
  • Washer: front load, along the trim of the door; top load, along the back of the tub opening under the lid.
  • Dryer: "along the top of the door opening".

Whirlpool. Whirlpool has its own finder at Find your model and serial number. I could not load it to quote it, so check there for your appliance type.

Common questions

  • How do I know I have the full GE model number? GE says it always begins and ends with a letter, so a string that starts or ends with a digit is incomplete.
